A charming old capital of Laos, known as a Former Kingdom of Million Elephant in the past. The town had been moved to Vientiane in 1560 as civilization came. At least 3Days needed to explore the town, old colonial of French buildings remained. Local houses are all respected to their ancestors’ tradition and Luang Prabang is the World Heritage that still kept
under management by UNESCO.
Day 1: Around World Heritage-Historical sites (Dinner)
15.05 Depart from Chiang Mai airport by Laos Airline QV645.
16.05 Arrive at Luang Prabang airport. The tour guide awaits you and take you to Wat Phu Sii. Climb its 350 steps to enjoy commanding views for many miles in each direction. Wat Phu Sii sits atop the mountain, along side the skeletons of Indochina war anti-aircraft guns! (Between 1946 - 1973)
17.30 Check in at Manoluck hotel or equivalent.
19.00 After dinner, shopping at Luang Prabang night market, where hundred of Hmong vendors display their handmade handicraft.
Day2 : Mae Khong river boat trip – Pak Ou Buddha cave – Kuang Sii fall (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)
8.00 After breakfast, Enjoy a half - day spin around Luang Prabang…and you will understand why it deserves the World Heritage title! Visit Wat Visoun, the site of impressive Thad Makmo stupa. The rounded dome is stylistically more Sinhalese than Lao, Continue to visit Wat Mai. Built in 1796, the five-tiered roof of the wooden Sim (chapel) epitomizes the graceful Luang Prabang architectural style. Then Visit Wat Xieng Thong further emphasizes the uniqueness of Luang Prabang, its several roofs sweeping low to the ground. See also the impressive "tree of life" mosaic here. The gilt panel on the exterior of the chapel depicts semi-erotic episodes from the Ramayana.
12.00 Have lunch at a local restaurant.
13.00 Begin a Mekong Riverboat trip with your guide on the mighty Mekong River to visit the famous & sacred Pak Ou Buddha Caves. These caves, overlooking the confluence of the Mekong & Ou Rivers from on high, have been home to many thousands of Buddha images that were placed here by local people since 16th century, when King Setthathirat found the caves and declared them a holy spot.
14.30 Cruise down Mekong river, then drive out of town visit Kuang Sii Water Fall, beautiful, largest fall in northern Laos.
17.00 Back to your hotel.
18.00 Return to the town for dinner.
Day3 : Arm-Ging – National museum (Breakfast, lunch)
05.30 Get up early morning, participate Arm-Ging, hundreds of monks walk along side walk to recieve offering rice, snacks or fruits from local people and visitors. Then visit morning market where local people sell food, fruits, vegetables and animals.
8.30 After breakfast at the hotel, check out and visit the National Museum, once a king's palace. Displayed inside is a lovely collection of personal artifacts of the royal family, including photos, musical instruments, and many gifts received from the dignitaries of foreign countries.
11.30 Transfer you to Luang Prabang airport.
13.10 Fly back to Chiang Mai by Lao Airlines QV635. (Lunch served on the plane)
14.10 Arrive at Chiang Mai with impression.
